Pre-race routine:

Woke up about 6:30. Had a bit of breakfast. Got dressed and was out the door by 7:30. I ended up getting there about an hour early. Found a parking spot, went and picked up my packet. Went back to the car and fussed with the race number and the disposable chip. (Has anyone used these? Kind of cool but I'm not thrilled about more plastic in landfills.)
Event warmup:

10' warm up plus strides. I finished just in time to go to the start line.
Run
  • 25m 33s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 13s  min/mile
Comments:

Kept a comfortably hard pace the entire time. HR was right where it should have been. Felt great the whole time.
What would you do differently?:

I would have picked up the pace for the quarter mile instead of just the last tenth. It would have been fun to dust more people en route to the finish line.
Post race
Warm down:

10' easy run. There was no Zone 1 at that point, just slower.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Mental focus. I was enjoying the day so much and the trip through my old neighborhood that I sort of zoned out on the fact that I was racing.

Event comments:

I only rated the post race activities as average because I didn't go to them. There was a post-race party at a local bar a bit later.
