Pre-race routine:

Up at 4:30am for coffee, 1/2 bagel at 5:30am, 2m w/u to check out the legs before stretching.
Event warmup:

1m w/u, hung in the warming shelter talking to people until the start. It was a chilly 30F.
Run

  • 12.5 miles
  • 08m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

Goal was to pace close to MP in preparation for Boston based on coach's recommendation. Going to talk to him about a more conservative approach. No way, I could have maintained the pace for the full 26.2m.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

2.5m ez run. Hung around for three more hours waiting for my team to finish. Froze to death, legs got really tight so ice bath and recovery tights post.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing, paced spot on.

Event comments:

This is a great event. It is normally the 100K ultra championship race. Hopefully they will keep the 50K component next year.
