Swim
Comments: I keep reminding my self through the race to "Race my OWN race, and race the way I trained" So I keep a nice easy pace that I trained and I came out of the water 30 seconds slower then my goal time, WoooHoo. What would you do differently?: Nothing! I wasn't fast but I came out with the time I wanted and wasn't tired or winded at all!! Transition 1
Comments: Slow getting the wetsuit off, but I am in no rush in these longer races. Bike
Comments: "RACE my own race." Tried to keep my speed even and did not want to start off too fast, so a few people passed me on the first half of the bike. On the last 10 miles I caught up and passed about 8 - 10 people that had passed me earlier on, felt good. :-) What would you do differently?: When training ride faster!! My quads were killing me towards the end of the race. I should be able to maintain a good pace if I train faster on the bike. Transition 2
Comments: Again I was in no rush. Took the time to tape up my feet to prevent a blister. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Same story as on the swim and bike. The running is my slowest event so I did not want to get sucked into trying to chase down people passing me. I reached the turn around point in about 1 hour 13 minutes and finished the run in 2 hours and 27 minutes, so I keep an even run pace though the whole run, WoooHooo!! Many people passed me in the first 6.6 miles but I got to passa few of them in the last 4 miles :-) What would you do differently?: Nothing, went exactly as I trained! Post race
Warm down: Pizza, Pizza, Pizzza, and water. Got a shirt and back pack from the raffle :-) What limited your ability to perform faster: NOTHING! The race went exactly as I trained. I learned what I put into training is what I should expect on race day. This time I also ate A LOT before and during the race which keep me fueled for the race. (the camel back also keep me well hydrated) Even though I was sore and tired through the run NEVER ONCE did I think "What am I doing out here, I never want to do this again" I was actually out there smiling having fun and enjoying myself. Event comments: Nice small beautiful race. I miss seeing and hearing all the support on the run (like you would on bigger races), but it was a GREAT race. I was well organized and the roads on the bike had HUGE clean shoulders! Last updated: 2009-03-17 12:00 AM

Cereal, 3 bagels, english muffin, power bar, coffee, two egg and ham english muffins. Got to the transition when it opened at 6:30 and noticed I left my race number at the hotel. It all worked out, my family picked it up for me while I was on the bike.
Nothing, just a quick jump in the water, walking around, and fighting with all the mosquitos.
