Run
Comments: The plan for this race was to stick together with BF and his son. It was the son's first race. But the trail just got so crowded (imagine 2,200 people on a 10 feet wide trail) that 0.5 mile into the race, BF told me to take off. From then I "took off"... Well not really. The whole race was one big traffic jam, especially when we got back on the trail after turning around. We basically had to run single file against the walkers. I also didn't really push it. Still glad that I made it under half an hour... The boys came in 2.5 minutes later... Which is an awesome result for a first 5K. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I had no expectation on this race. Post race
Warm down: Ran into my friends again. Waited for the boys. Got something to eat and drink and did a couple of stretches. Event comments: This was an inaugual event and the race director completely underestimated the Greenville running community and the charm of a race that was only 5 bucks to sign up. I am sure they will be much better prepared next year. Last updated: 2009-03-18 12:00 AM

This was an evening race. I was off that day, so at least I didn't have to worry to work and then hurry to get to the race. I tried to eat light all day. Package pick-up ended half an hour before the race started. So we headed out around 5:30PM to get the package. It was crowded. Later they said, that they planned the race for 700 participants and 2,200 showed up. Therefore it was a little chaotic.
Jogged around the park and then ran into two friends of mine and that was the end of the warm up! :)
