Swim
Comments: Remembered earplugs to keep the water out of my ears! Made my way to the front of the start thankfully, so I didn't have to do much jockeying. Did get into the weeds a bit rounding the first bouy but not too bad. The exit was nasty!! Muddy clay with gross rocks, I was really worried about cutting my foot open. They should think about reversing the course so you wade into the nastiness at the start then have the nice beach to run out on. Was the second in my wave out of the water. Transition 1
Comments: Wet suits were not legal. I still need to try the shoes on the pedal start... but the start of the bike is a hill so I think that would have been pretty hard anyway. Bike
Comments: I think I would have done better with out the gravel, but I was still pretty happy. I did well with the hills and even got a compliment from someone passing on a down hill. HIt 36 mph on the downhill back into transition, that was fun and a nice little rest What would you do differently?: I need to get down in the horns more, or try out some areo bars... Transition 2
Comments: I thought about changing my wet socks but forgot, might have to try the bike without socks since the wet socks slip around on my shoe inserts... What would you do differently?: forget the gu I brought with me, I can't decide if I should stop bringing my water bottle on the run too. Run
Comments: I really need to work on the running more, I kept wanting to walk, but didn't let myself. Thankfully someone passed me and she kept cheering me on to keep up with her, which I did until the last .25, Thank you my little run angel! Twisted my ankle quite a few times, I think partialy from my wet socks on the orthotics, the other part was terrain. What would you do differently?: Tighten my shoes if I do anymore trail running. Need to remember to keep my form! Post race
Warm down: Gatorade, an orange and some animal crackers, yum! Lots of walking and stretching. Event comments: If there had been maybe one more drink station I would have ditched my water bottle. Pretty course. Last updated: 2009-03-20 12:00 AM

Ate a normal breakfast and coffee, left the hotel a 5:30 and got to the race a 6 sharp, but I was nowhere near the first person there! Set up my area, met up with my swim coach who got a slot at the last minute.
Walked up the park entrance a bit and back, met someone from my bike club that I hadn't actually met yet, funny that we chose the same rack! Stretched, got in the water did a quick lap, stretched a bit more during the meeting had a gu.
