Swim
Comments: First 100 was a hammerfest. Tried to get out quick and take it easy through the rest of the swim. My training has been lacking this summer and it definately showed as I could tell that my form was breaking down. That being said I managed to get out of the water fairly quickly. Can't complain too much. What would you do differently?: Train more. Especially in OWS. Transition 1
Comments: Transition and path to the bike mount were grass so I did not bother with the shoes on the bike. Farly quick here and managed to get out of T1 2nd in the AG. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: Made a few costly mistakes here which probably kept me out of third for the AG. Mistake #1 was letting the eventual 2nd place guy go on the bike. We rode together for 3 miles and I let him go to save up for the run. I could have stayed with him but chose not to. Mistake #2 was letting a legal pace line of guys go by me. I should have stayed with them as it would have made navigating a crowded course a little easier. In all I probably could have dropped a minute or so off of my bike time. Otherwise I was faster on the loops than last year. The bike course was slightly different as you had to ride about .3 of a mile on a path with speed bumps. Not good for the time. What would you do differently?: See above. Transition 2
Comments: Really fast dismount. Into shoes with bloody foot and out the door. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Run was 40 seconds faster than last year with a painful bloody foot. Happy with that. No one in the AG passed me. I could see #2 and #3 but could not make up the distance. First mile was OK but took a good mile to get into a nice running groove. Usually takes a little less. The last mile was the fastest and felt much better. Still got passed by just about the entire planet. What would you do differently?: The NSN tri in Newport (2 weeks ago) was on a hilly course and my time suffered greatly. Ran myself right out of the podium. It was nice to see my time get back to something slightly more respectable with this race. I really can't complain. Post race
Warm down: Walk around in circles. Chat with a few friends. What limited your ability to perform faster: Weight. Still a limiting factor. Racing at 230 at my height (5-9) is not doing me any favors. If I could drop 25 or so my run could be that much better. Ideally 180 would be nice... Event comments: Suffering from a clear lack of motivation, fatigue and lack of decent training going in to this race. I cant be disappointed with the result as I dropped 2 minutes off of last year. I am disappointed that I did not pay attention better to what was going on around me. My mistake and will learn from this race. Last updated: 2009-03-21 12:00 AM

Nothing much. Lines for the loo were too long. Few minutes of swimming with stretching.
