Pre-race routine:

Got up early and got my gear together. As I was loading up my bike, found out that I had a flat tire. Had to spend some time and change that out. Once I got up to Lewisberry, I got my transition set up, got body marked and checked out the water.
Event warmup:

Got in the water to see how the water temp was.
Swim
  • 14m 57s
  • 750 meters
  • 01m 59s / 100 meters
Comments:

I was really pleased with the swim. This was literally my first open water swim of the season. My navigation was great, however, my mind wandered a little bit and I wandered off course, however, I had no problems getting back on track. I can see a huge difference with my swimming, mainly with my stroke. I recently took up yoga and I can tell with the stretching I'm doing, I'm getting more use out of my stroke. It's not as choppy as it used to be.
What would you do differently?:

Keep working on my swimming technique.
Transition 1
  • 04m 41s
Comments:

I had a horrible time trying to get my wetsuit off and I don't know why it was such a problem.
What would you do differently?:

Practice getting my wetsuit on and off in a timely fashion.
Bike
  • 1h 26m 22s
  • 18 miles
  • 12.50 mile/hr
Comments:

My cycling is horrible and I really need to get better. I seemed to do fine going up hills, but going downhill and hitting the straight aways, I always seem to fall flat. Worst of all, my chain popped off, so I had to spend time to get that back on.
What would you do differently?:

Bike more
Transition 2
  • 01m 43s
Comments:

Transition went fine, however, I wish the RD would make sure that only athletes were allowed in transition. When I went to rack my bike, an athlete who was finished and their family were huddled around the spot where my bike was suppose to be.
Run
  • 30m 32s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

I had a blast on the run...probably too much fun. I'm like a little kid, if I see mud and puddles, watch out, I'm jumping in. I told one of the volunteers that was standing near a large puddle to get out of the way because I'm jumping in.
Post race
Event comments:

I mainly did this race because I was going home to see my family. I had a great time doing this. I didn't go out there to set a PR or anything, mainly to have fun, especially since this was the first race of my tri season. I will do this race again, especially if I happen to be up in the area the same time it's going on.
