Swim
Comments: Overall rank is for men & women; age group men only. We weren't "racing" anyone - just started when we were ready. So it was a bummer not having anyone to push me. Fastest in training was 12:15, my goal was 12 minutes, so I was pumped to beat that! Turns were all good. Energy good - was feeling tired last few laps. My timer didn't get her sign down in the water on my last lap though - kept me from pushing hard the last lap because I thought I must have miscounted. What would you do differently?: I thought my instructions to my timer were clear because they've messed up in every other race I've done. I need to be painfully descriptive of how I'd like them to give me signals. Only other thing would be to train even harder, but I was pleased. Transition 1
Comments: Placed my bike well - no lost time there. Didn't get clipped in quickly - maybe cost me 5 seconds. What would you do differently?: Practice clipping in quickly. Bike
Comments: Overall rank is for men & women; age group men only. Dressed warm - beanie under helmet, arm warmers, gloves, tights under tri shorts. Didn't push too hard on the bike. Intentionally eased up last couple miles to avoid side ache in the run. What would you do differently?: Could always train harder Transition 2
Comments: good spot on the racks; didn't put my quick laces on, so tying them added probably 15 seconds; forgot to take my arm warmers off - threw them to Angie on the way out of T2. What would you do differently?: Find quick laces I like. Run
Comments: Started out slow to avoid side ache; this was my first tri where I didn't get one in the run! The hills slowed my pace though. I kicked hard on the downhill and finish. What would you do differently?: Check out the course before race day. Long before so I could do more hill work! Mostly just to be mentally prepared though. Post race
Warm down: Walked around a bit, got some water and food. Cheered on other racers. What limited your ability to perform faster: I've been training primarily for a half ironman in June, so I haven't been doing speedwork for a sprint tri. Event comments: This was my first time with this race. Enjoyed it a lot! Volunteers did a great job at intersections on the bike course. Definitely would do it again. Wish they'd make a shirt I'd actually wear though - no offense to the designer. I'll recruit people next year! Last updated: 2009-03-22 12:00 AM
