Run
Comments: I took it easy in the first mile to really make sure I had warmed up. I felt pretty good. I just kept picking people to run with for pacing. There were five people, not running together as such, but roughly the same pace who kind of ran together for about six miles. That was good. They were going pretty hard at it and I kept at that pace. Once I got to the top of the Seco hill to Mountain I just ran as fast as I thought I could sustain for the last four miles. It was a great race. I really enjoyed myself. The volunteers were excellent. Really supportive. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I felt good. I did an an honest effort. I really put it down. When we got to the last two miles I tried to keep with a couple faster runners and just couldn't. That told me I was trying as much as I could and I felt happy with that. Post race
Warm down: I was wet to the bone, getting colder by the minute. I had a chocolate milk, a banana, three bottles of water and listened to some musice while I ate. I then went home. I was happy but worn out. What limited your ability to perform faster: Shin splints. They interfer with my training and hence my race Event comments: I had a ball. Its great to have an event like this so close to home. Last updated: 2009-03-22 12:00 AM

Ate my usual peanut butter on toast and lots of hot coffee. This race was so early and with the 5.00am road closures I was sitting in the car park at 4.55am. Nuts.
I walked and jogged a little bit. I planned to do a lot more as my shins have been giving me warnings of pending trouble and getting them warm with a easy warm up really helps but as it happened I guess about 15mins was plenty.
