Swim
Comments: Good overall swim, could have been faster but I decided to grab a pair of feet and see how it went. Ended up being a guy I raced back and forth the whole time. (alain) Picked up the feet at 200ish and dropped them at 600ish when he went left to follow the bouy line and I aimed straight at the shore. Beat him out of the water but he caught me on the hill into T1 What would you do differently?: Grab a slightly faster set of feet. I expected to go faster but was surprised how strong the field was. I was not out on my own, imagine that!!! Transition 1
Comments: Tried a different mount and was not happy. ended up stopping and stepping over. Practice the mount, no time is not an excuse if you want to build/maintain a lead. Beat Alain out of T1 and had a 10 sec lead on him. Glasses on helmet on bike out poor mount!!! 2 races in a row Practice the bike mount before Austin What would you do differently?: Nothing Except the mount 38/941 6/85 Bike
Comments: Good pace. I decided to push it the whole way and see how things went. It worked. Alain caught me at 1 mile and played leapfrog for the next 7 miles. I would lose the up hills and catch him on the down hills. Dropped him at the 9.5 mile point and finished well. Got the feet out early but handled the hill into T2 ok What would you do differently?: Go harder on the flats and down hills. Climbing is still a weakness Transition 2
Comments: Great T2 Dismounted on the run just before the line. Awesome, ran into T2 break lever hang at the rack. Helmet off, rt sock, shoe, visor, lt sock shoe grabbed belt and towel and off What would you do differently?: Nothing Until I race w/out socks I don't think I can go faster/better Results speak 16/941 2/85 Run
Comments: Wow it was hot. Had to be over 90 by the time I was running. Wasn't willing to slow thru water stops so I would grab 2 cups, one for the towel and one to drink. Not really enough but not horrible either. Would squeeze the towel out to try to stay cool. Not working well!!! the last hill was dry dusty hot and painful! What would you do differently?: Keep running and just suck it up! Post race
Warm down: Walked around drank 1 bottle plus one endurox bottle got a massage What limited your ability to perform faster: Grabbed the wrong set of feet, heat on the run Event comments: Another good J & A race Last updated: 2009-03-22 12:00 AM
