Run
Comments: yeah, i ran. It worked out nicely. What would you do differently?: Maybe run a little faster. Now that I know how to pace myself a little better I think I can get a slightly better time. Post race
Warm down: Well, I basically sprinted for the last half mile, so when I finished I could barely breath. After I caught my breath and went and drank a gatorade and had some peanuts. What limited your ability to perform faster: experience Event comments: So as I mentioned, this was my second organized run. It was a personal goal of mine to complete a half marathon. I'd only ever run an organized 5k in November of 2007. This was done as part of a "get in shape" regimen I started in which I lost 94 pounds over 6 months. My first overall goal of this half marathon was just to finish, which I achieved. My secondary goal was to finish in under 2 hours. I just did this as my total overall race time was exactly 2 hours, down to the tenth of a second. I really don't know how 2 hours ranks as a first half marathon, but I was happy with it. I think I'd run another one, but maybe next winter as I prefer to cycle in the summer time. Last updated: 2009-03-23 12:00 AM

This was my first half marathon, and my second organized run I've ever done. I did a 5k 2 years ago. Throughout the my training the past 10 weeks for this half marathon I did almost all of my runs firs thing in the morning. I would have a small snack before the run, like a bagel, a small mount of water, then I would run. I would not eat for drink during the run. I did all of these same things for the Half Marathon.
I rode to the race on the train, then I stood in my corral with thousands of other people until everyone else started running, then I ran :)
