interesting swim course, down a channel near the London Bridge. No wind at this point so water was very calm
What would you do differently?:

Could have pushed harder on the swim, but since it was my first Olympic I didn't want to get spent too early.

T1 is on grass, but 100 75 run through sand to get to road (thanks to organizers for having the mats out, they helped a lot).

Ride started down wind and flat for 4 miles, good to get into a comfortable cadence. But then course goes into a neighborhood with lots of turns and hills. Then a flat section, and another set of unbelievable hills which are short but very steep. i went from highest to lowest gears and back again 4 times in 5 mins. I can see why nobody has ever broken 1 hour on this ride.

Performance:
Course: first 1/2 mile in sand, tough way to start. Then up 3 stories of stairs to get on top of London Bridge, flat from there for 5 miles, but coming down the stairs with tight quads after 3 hours of racing was a bit scary. Someone could really get hurt if a leg gave out on those stairs.
