Comments:

Not a fun swim. It was so incredibly crowded the whole time. Turns were terrible, and the crowd never let up the whole time. I felt like I was swimming absolutely forever while being elbowed, punched and grabbed from all directions. On a positive note, I did well breathing and sighting, and did not panic or freak out at all.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe try and stay even more to the outside, especially around the turns. It would probably be worth the extra distance.
Transition 1
  • 11m 53s
Comments:

Had a nice volunteer helping me. Changed out of my swim suit and into bike shorts and a tri top. Glad I went for the bike shorts. Also put on sunscreen, socks, shoes, gloves, and helmet.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.

Comments:

I took it very easy the first half. I felt great on the hills, like I wasn't even working. I passed a lot of people up the hills, but they passed me right back on the downhills. The whole thing went by very quickly, except the last 10 miles or so. Nutrition with Infinit was spot on. Also had some banana pieces and lots of water.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe push a little harder, but I don't know. I wanted to save my legs.
Transition 2
  • 06m 19s
Comments:

Had a great volunteer again. Changed from bike shorts to tri shorts. Took some water and put gels in my shirt.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 4h 14m 15s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 09m 42s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt GREAT almost the whole time. Took it easy the first half, then picked it up a little. Just did water and gels, no gatorade. Crowd support was great. I was passing people left and right the second half.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe push a little harder from the start, but I didn't know what to expect towards the end.
Post race
Warm down:

Felt sick and light-headed right afterwards. Sat down for a while and felt a little better. Had some sips of gatorade which helped. Walked 1 mile back to the hotel and had a sandwich.

Event comments:

Awesome experience from start to finish. The race was so well organized with amazing volunteers and great crowd support. I really loved every minute of it!
