Pre-race routine:

Mini bagel and hummus.. G2 and banana.. headed to metro
Event warmup:

Warm involved waiting for porta potties.. and then jogging to the bag check and race start

Comments:

So before race I was 50/50 on doing it due to major back pain/hamstring pain and calf pain.. was thinking about dropping to the 5k, or not at all .. decided to give it a try and if it sucked drop out at 5 miles since it was close to the start.. Started very late, porta potty combined with indecisiveness .. by very late I mean basically last :) me and the juggler .. first two, hard to move around people, walked at some points :) (8:30/8:40 pace for 1st 2).. hit 5 at 41 minutes.. didn't feel 2 bad, and had just basically crossed into Z4.. so I had 20 seconds per mile to make up to hit the "if I race goal" .. turned it up to between 7:30/7:40 per mile while maneuvering all over the place (garmin distance 10.13 in ST, 10.09 minus bridges and kennedy center) .. spent about half the race on grass, sidewalk or cobblestone:) .. was 40 seconds behind with 3 or 4 to go.. hit the next mile marker I was ahead 5-10 seconds:) (thier marker was off the one mile) .. picked up the effort, but held a steady pace to finish it off up that damn hill.. little Z5 action to finish .. overall took it easy to medium for the end .. enjoyed it, glad I ran.. and a PR to boot:)

passed approximately 12411 people starting at the very back ;)

What would you do differently?:

Not be fighting nagging pains, not bike 50 miles the day before, start before the last person:)

Warm down:

Went over to water, then bag check, then met up with a ton o bter's.. headed over to crystal city for brunch

yet again, liked the course or CB.. need to arrive by ^A to actually make a start:)
