  • Comments: For my first and possibly last time doing this race, it's hard to sum it all up. It's the MECA of Marathons, and was my long time goal. I had a great time, and enjoyed it. The people of Boston were wonderful, and I toured the city for a few days afterward and had a great time. It's a city I look forward to going back to one day....marathon or not.

  • Comments: Running this race is almost surreal. The crowds, the tradition, the culture of Boston and the race - just incredible. Everything about this race was so well put together and organized to the best of standards. Its Boston, do I really need to say more about it? Im really happy with the effort that I put into this race. I was training really hard because I really wanted to kill this course and whip out a PR. This race ended up being about a 13 minute PR for me, on a much harder course. Im happy to say that I feel like I paced near perfectly, navigated the hills very well and ripped off the last kick with everything that was left in the tank. Exactly the way I wanted to run this race. Im also very happy that the last 5k of the race was my fastest 5k split. The second half of the race is more difficult than the first and I managed to run that faster than the first half. I ran the first half in 1:28:22 and second half in 1:28:11. All the negative split training really paid off.

  • Comments: I had a great time overall, just a bad race. Boston's reputation as the spectator supported and best marathon "experience" is well earned and truly amazing. I was surprised that I wasn't upset by such a crappy performance from me, but realized that the fans cheering you on, the kids who beam with joy as you take an orange slice from them and the overall positive vibe even in the worst conditions in years makes this an amazing thing to have earned the honor to participate in! How can you really have a "bad day" when you just finished the Superbowl of marathons!

  • Comments: Dinner: we ended up at a longhorn steakhouse, we felt it best to not go back into downtown plus we were too hungry to wait and too tire to walk that far. The 20oz porterhouse was righ, perfect! Coldstone's "chocolate devotion" followed dinner...haven't had ice cream in weeks (months) and it was awesome. After walking back to the hotel and packing, I went to Chris's room (another running companion) and recapped the day over a couple beers!

  • Comments: Boston is simply the best. The volunteers are amazing, especially given the terrible conditions. Everyone was still out there helping us out with everything they could and still had the energy to cheer us on. The crowds were amazing, and I am so happy they still came out to support, even though the weather wasn't great. The entire city gets pumped about the race, and the atmosphere is infectious. Since I wore my official Boston jacket, a whole bunch of complete strangers wished me luck- on the T, at the store, at the hotel- it was awesome! The course is really tough, but I bet there are tougher courses out there. Train on hills, and beef up your quads. If you train smart, you can go wicked fast :)

  • Comments: Super tough course, and most physically challenging marathon I've done yet mostly because of the course combined with the Nor'easter weather storm. Good experience though, proud of how I handled it all.

  • Comments: Lot of people cramping on the course. Rough day and no more marathons. Fun has got to be the #1 deal.
