• Comments: Another CGI event -- always well run. This race had an interesting twist. Towards the middle of the waves, a thunderstorm was heading into the area and a direct hit was imminent at the venue. By this point, I was finished, but mayhem ensued. The race was ongoing and they instructed everyone to grab their bikes and get to the safety of their vehicles. I grabbed my bag (which had my keys/phone/wallet) and decided to leave my bike. It was total chaos with people grabbing bikes and running out -- nobody checking anything. Folks coming in off the bike course into crowds. The call was the right one because the storm was rough, but they should have not allowed people to grab bikes without being checked. After about 40 minutes, it cleared up, but the race was over.
