Comments: It was time for the coach to finally race and show the team what he could do and I responded. I had a lot of anxiety about how I would do and some mixed emotions. I wanted/needed to win I felt but didn't want to rub anyone's nose in it so it turned out to be a precarious mix. In the end, I think I handled it well. I won by over :45 seconds and no one seriously challenged me. The cheers of the kids ("go coach!" "Go coach Chris!") and the generally excitement the team had to see me run was so touching. This group means so much to me and their approval and well-wishes the world. Though I ended up hurting my ankle again it was worth it to practice what I preach and celebrate at 'my' race a great season. No, I'm SO glad I raced and am so happy with how it turned out-what a gift and what a great end to the cross country season. Thank you Lord for your many blessings!!
