  • Comments: I thought this venue was excellent, and the event was very well organized for how large it was. There were plenty of volunteers to help make sure we all did the right thing. I'll definitely put this on my list of races to do!

  • Comments: A 60-year old gentleman from Provo died in the swim wave right behind mine. I guess it's a bit sobering to think how close someone was to dying, but at the same time, he went doing something he obviously enjoyed, so it could be worse. I had thought that this would be my last race, but I don't want to quit on a bad note. I am going to join the Desert Sharks Tri club and learn to ride and run better. I'll keep swimming twice a week. I also don't want my boys to see me as a quitter. If I leave triathlons, I'll leave on a good note, not a disappointing one like this one.

  • Comments: No other race experience to compare but only major frustration was lack of traffic control at T1 area in the morning. After double checking setup and tires it took forever to get out of the parking lot and over to the race start area. We had to park about a mile away and then run to the race start. Some poor planning on my part but also on the race officials to make sure competitors could get in and out of the T1 the morning of the race in time.
