Comments: This was my first Rev3 event and it was great. So well run and smooth, just like any Ironman event I have done. However it was so much more family friendly, and just being able to cross the finish line with my kids made it worthwhile. I am already seeing how I can do a couple Rev3 events next year as I am a fan of their product and will probably avoid Ironman races going forward.
Comments: The first REV3 I did a year ago was pretty good - other than some volunteer decided to pack up my transition for me while I was out on the bike. ??? WHY would you do that?
THIS one was ridiculous from start to finish. the day of the "mandatory" but not mandatory bike check, the REV3 folks were going a trivia contest giving away goodies. every single trivia question was along the lines of "where did my boss go to college?" "where does my other boss live?" "where does the CEO have a house?" ..and this attitude of you are being allowed to race and pay $250+ for the privilege of racing with us was pervasive. I got really tired of hearing IM dissed, while acting like this exclusive club. ... that treated the outsiders as lesser than those people who apparently are part of the club -- although it is unclear how to gain entrance.
I doubt I will ever do another REV3 as they clearly have an attitude of being 'better' than IM, without actually being better.
