Comments: Although the IP belongs now to Super League, this is really the venerable Malibu Triathlon returned to the founder after a lot of turmoil, finger pointing and--from my perspective after racing the event twice under Super League's ownership--a greatly diminished experience for age groupers. Let the record show that I was strongly in favor of the change (although the loss of the "Malibu Tri" name makes me sad--this was my very first tri 18 years ago). The "new" Zuma Beach Triathlon is the old Malibu Tri "Classic" distance course. The politics around the race definitely impacted participation (and presuably budget) but this is still a scenic and challenging sprint tri. (It should be noted that in this new iteration, the Olympic race that was on Saturday is now being staged concurrently with the sprint on Sunday.)
