  • Comments: So for all the complaints from experienced riders of this race not being a real race they all were sure out there to ride it anyway. I really just wanted to finish and have a good time and I definitely accomplished that today! I was suprised at the men to women ratio (which I notced at the restroom lines on the breaks where 50 men were lined up to every 3-5 women). Interesting huh! TA really knows how to run a race event, the streets were well marked for the most part (although I did follow some folks 2x to wrong turns), marshalls out in full foce, the break areas were like buffets -unfortunately alot of wheat products -so I was glad I brought my own sandwiches. The finish was a little disappointing, but I'm used to tri finish events which seem to be much more active, but I was ready to go home by that time anyway. Got a great massage and dinner out with the hubby before knocking out at 9PM. Overall Terrific first CENTURY! and yes...I will be doing more cycling events in the future, I really

  • Comments: If you want a chance to ride around NYC, see some landmarks, some great views, and maybe some parts of the city you've never seen before, and you don't want the crowds or hassles of the Five Borough Bike Tour, then this event is fine. It's hard to call it a true Century, though, because it really isn't much of a challenge. There are no hills to speak of, other than bridges, and the course really necessitates that you ride the course at a pretty leisurely pace. I might consider doing the 75- or 100-mile courses, just because I've never done them, but unless my son wants to ride it with me one day, there's no way I'm doing the 55 again.
