• Description: The Charlotte's Finest Duathlon is one of the most unique and fun events on the Set Up schedule. Staged at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Fire and Police Academy, the Charlotte's Finest Duathlon features a cross country style run and a closed bike course. This event is a great early season warm up and one not to miss.
  
  The event begins and ends with a 5k run. Athletes travel over pavement, grass and wooden stairs throughout the run course which makes its way through the K-9 training facility, a few short trails and eventually through the firing range (don't worry the guns are put away during the event). During the last mile athletes make their way atop "Bubba", a long gradual hill heading out of the firing range and towards the finish.
  
  The bike course is a three loop affair with the entire course closed to traffic. It certainly is rare to cycle on closed streets in Charlotte and this is one chance you will get to do it. With only 4 turns on each loop and a handful of rolling climbs, you are in for some fast riding.
