  • Description: Tahoe Forest Hospital District is pleased once again to host the Squaw Valley Mountain Run and Valley Nature Walk. Proceeds help support ongoing cancer prevention programs including; awareness and screening programs, cancer prevention programs, health outreach programs and community education workshops.

Defined by both the incredible beauty of Lake Tahoe and the towering peaks of the High Sierra, Squaw Valley is one of the world’s most famous sporting playgrounds. The region has an almost endless variety of spectacular mountain biking trails, adventurous hikes and, of course, waterborne activities on “Big Blue” - Lake Tahoe - one of the largest, deepest and purest alpine lakes on earth. The Squaw Valley Mountain Run is the perfect opportunity for you to experience this region on your own two feet and celebrate the summer season in the Sierra.

Hundreds of runners and hikers will make their way up Squaw Valley’s three-and-a-half-mile mountain run Saturday, August 4 in the 27th Annual Squaw Valley Mountain Run. Once at the top you'll be greeted with a stunning view of the Sierra and Lake Tahoe.

A Valley Nature Walk has also been added to the activities. The new Valley Nature Walk is perfect for those interested in experiencing the beauty of Squaw Valley without climbing a stenuous 2,000 feet. The course features a variety of trails through this scenic area, starting and finishing at the Village at Squaw.

The Mountain Run is comprised of two divisions: the Squaw Valley Mountain Run, for competitive or experienced runners, and the Squaw Valley Mountain Hike, which follows the same course but is not timed. Both events will begin at the base of Squaw Valley USA and finish at High Camp, where music and refreshments will be provided. Discounted Cable Car tickets will be available to participants’ friends and families so that they can join you at High Camp.

Award ceremonies and festivities for all three events will be held at the Village at Squaw.
