- Description: The course will start with a 1/2 mile swim in Orchard Lake. Orchard Lake is a man made lake that used to be an apple orchard. Some portions of the lake are shallow and have lake grass. Racers will exit the lake and proceed directly into the Transition Area.
Bikers will exit onto the camp road, cross a small bridge over the creek and proceed into the 2 loop mountain bike course. The bike course features a tru mix of all types of courses. There are portions on Jeep roads, single track portions, steep rocky descents and some sections that you will need to dismount to get over obstacles. It is a true test of mountain biking.
After finishing the bike course racers will have to tackle one of the hardest 5k's out there. The run is a mix of single track and jeep roads and racers will be greeted with areas of the course such as Tom Quick's Ascent, Lung Burner Hill and the crossing of Wildcat Falls, which is usually dry during the summer. You will truly immerse yourself in nature during this race and if when you finish you will have Survived the Land in the Sky. Course Videos will be made this year.
