  • Description: Athletes representing their XTERRA region coming from all over the USA will meet in the Sandhills of North Carolina to battle out an endurance challenge and earn points in their respective age groups on May, 25th 2008.
This is the 2nd Annual XTERRA race held at Fort Bragg and the 2nd annual XTERRA event held on any military installation. It will be one of the biggest events in the area. The race will consist of a 1,000 meter swim, an 18 mile mountain bike, and a 3.2 mile run. The race will be limited to 150 racers so sign up early if you want a chance to race in the most exciting mountain bike course in the Sandhills.

The swim will consist of two laps and between laps there will be a 50 meter sprint across the sandy beach. After the swim competitors will sprint up hill towards transition where they will mount their steeds and get ready for two laps totaling 18 miles of fun. They will head down a fast fire break trail consisting of one mile before entering some single track of hard packed sand. This single track has it all; sharp switch backs, rock gardens, log jams, sand pits, roots, bridges, barbed wire, land mines, live overhead fire… ALRIGHT, maybe not the live ammo but definitely some jumps if you want. It has some fast downhill sections and some climbs, overall it’s a blast! After the bike they will head back up the fire break trail towards transition where they will start the 3.2 mile run. A lot of the run will be on sand which will have you thinking you were at the beach at Normandy. When you come in from the run you’ll head toward the finish where you’ll feel a great sense of achievement tackling the sand.
