  • Description: What we're talking about here is the First (and Last) Inauguration Day 5K and Bye-Bye Bush 5K retirement celebration of our illustrious George Walker Bush as President of these United States.

This once-in-an-electoral college event is under the aegis of LOCO man and New Hampshire road race impressario extraordinaire Mike St. Laurent, AKA (The LOCO Guy) and Mike will, as usual, go all-out with the post-race bash at Wings Your Way - Durham location.

The Race itself.. will take place in the often cited liberal town of Durham, NH and travel over mostly rural routes past ivy covered dorms and UNH’s rural agricultural section. Of course we expect the course to be all white.. and covered in snow..

    Happy Retirement..

Complete with your registration is your chance to sign the going away card… But mind the grease on your hands because you wouldn't want to do an el smudge-o while signing the 3-foot high "Happy Retirement" card to the outgoing President. Runners and walkers from all points on the political spectrum from Independent Nader-ites to Democrats to Republicans to Ron Paul Libertarians will be endorsing both the card and wishing Mr. Bush adios.

While we would love to have Mr. Bush himself race that day, we believe that he will be kicking back in Kennebunkport, Maine instead. (FREE LOCO SHOES TO YOU MR. PRESIDENT if you do run) Well-connected New Hampshire sources have heard that Mr. Bush is a butt-kicking 6:30-per-mile kinda guy. These are, however, the same sources the president has used for other claims../p>

Invited starter for the race is none other than Vice President Dick Cheney and because of a busy transition schedule we don’t expect him to make it.. Good thing though as Mr. Cheney’s weapon of choice is the one and the same shotgun that nearly send a duck-hunting companion to La-La Land a few years back. But just in case he does make it, runners in the front row in liberal Durham are advised to.......well, duck.

    Invited Political Dignitaries:.
Calls also went out to former Bush opponents Al Gore and John Kerry but both declined to race, with Gore stating "I already beat that guy once" and Kerry bemoaning the fact that the race did not have an "Aging Windsurfer Division".
