  • Description: Circle the City (CTC) is both a family friendly event and a training event for serious runners and walkers preparing for fall marathons and half marathons. Since the inaugural event in 2006, CTC continues to grow as a marquee event for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

Circle the City is a competitive (timed and scored) 10K and 5K run/walk in the heart of Downtown Indianapolis. The event also includes family-friendly activities on Monument Circle for children of all ages including the Symphony Stroll; a one mile non-competitive run/walk for all ages and abilities. Additionally, there is a 5K Corporate Team Competition with awards in three different divisions and a Biggest Team Competition.

All proceeds from this event benefit the ISO Annual Fund.

    Competitive 5K and 10K
10K and 5K courses start and finish on Monument Circle and are electronically timed and scored. Courses include Mass Ave Cultural District and Indiana Memorial National Historic District; 10K course also includes the Old North Side neighborhood.

To assure the safety of the runners and walkers, no pets, strollers or baby joggers are permitted on the competitive courses.

    1 Mile Symphony Stroll
Symphony Stroll is a family friendly event that allows pets and baby strollers. Course starts and finishes on Monument Circle with a lovely stroll around Downtown Indianapolis in between!

    Junior Jog
Junior Jog is for children under the age of 10 and the course is one lap around Monument Circle. Each Junior Jogger receives a race bib, t-shirt and medal. Parents may accompany their child on the course. No pets.
New this year, registration is required for the Junior Jog.

    5K Corporate Team Competition
5K Corporate Competition teams consist of a minimum of six members that will race against other corporate teams. The final ranking of corporate teams will be based on the overall placement achieved by the first five participants of a team who cross the finish line. Trophies are presented to winning teams in 3 divisions based on the size of your company. Companies that field teams are eligible to have booth space on Monument Circle during the event and there is a $2 discount on registration fee for corporate team members.

Biggest Team Competition – New This Year!
Biggest Team Competition will include teams with a minimum of 10 participants across all events, including the 5K Corporate Team Challenge and Junior Jog. The team with the most participants will receive the opportunity to partner with Samaritan’s Feet in a shoe distribution at a location determined by the winning team. The number of team members participating in the 5K and 10K races will be used as a tiebreaker. Official tallies will be kept by Vision Event Management, the official race director of Circle the City. There is a $2 discount on registration fee for competition team members.
