• Description: 1.25 mile swim from the north end of Jekyll Island, through a Coast Guard blockaded federal shipping channel, to the Lighthouse/Neptune Park area of St. Simons Island. Bike of 33 miles that leaves St. Simons Island very directly, crosses the St. Simons Island Causeway (two bridges), proceeds onto Highway 17, crosses over the tallest bridge in Georgia (Sidney Lanier Bridge), continues down Highway 17 to a point a mile short of exit 29 on I-95, then turns around to return to St. Simons Island. Bike route totals 8 bridge climbs, counting each bridge twice, and is perfect for prep for a hilly bike course for other triathlons. Bike ends in Neptune Park and the 10k run course winds through shaded areas of St. Simons with the finish line back in Neptune Park. The most unique swim and possibly bike legs in the southeast!
