    It's time for the annual Piney River Mini-Triathlon - Saturday, April 14, 2018 sponsored by Nelson Co. Parks and Rec. Dept. We are expecting another fun and exciting race this year. Put it on your calendar now.

    Our entry fee structure is designed to be easy on families and groups of friends.
    Fee (includes T-shirt): $20 solo; $35 team of 2; $45 team of 3 or 4; $45 for family (mom, dad, kids)

    Here are the main details:
    Registration: 9:00 - 11:00 AM at the Virginia Blue Ridge Railway Trail Lower Parking Lot off Rose Mill Road.
    Start: Same location as registration (above), 11:30 AM
    Finish: Virginia Blue Ridge Railway Trail Head on Rt. 151.

    Awards Ceremony: 1:15 PM at the trail head on Rt. 151.
    Awards: for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers.

    Run 1.6 miles alongside the beautiful Piney River.
    Paddle 3/4 mile on the Piney's Class I - II rapids. (We are hoping for good water for the paddle portion of the race this year but, as you know, predictions this far in advance are iffy at best.)
    Bike 2.5 miles - 3/4 mile up Old Rose Mill Road alongside the Piney River and 1.75 miles up the Blue Ridge Rail Trail.

    Classes:
    Solo - Youth and Adult, male and female
    Teams - All male, All female and coed.

    Become a race sponsor! We encourage donations for sponsorships. All sponsors will be recognized at the awards ceremony.

    Get the biggest bang for the buck from your sponsorship by donating prizes such as athletic gear to the race.

    Proceeds from the race go to the Nelson County Parks and Recreation youth programs.
