• Description: The city of Koriyama has been holding this race event for 19 years now. They did not hold the race in 2010 because of the earthquake and the Fukushima nuclear plant problems. Koriyama is not too far outside of the radiation exclusion zone that resulted from the Fukushima meltdowns.
  
  Anyway, the event includes various distances including 2km, 3km, 5km, 10km and 10 miles. Lots of families and younger children do the 2km event and the 3 km event includes junior high school kids and folks over 50. All told about 4000 people end up running.
