- Description: Beginning in 2012, the Pleasant District in Oak Park teamed up with the West Cook YMCA, Greenline Wheels, and The Competitive Foot to put on the first ever Pleasant District Family Triathlon. This incredibly unique event provided families in the Oak Park area the opportunity to participate in a low-stress, family friendly triathlon - the only one of its kind in the area, and maybe even the country!
The PDFT is a unique race format in that an adult and child participate together as a team, side-by-side in the pool, on their bikes, and on the run. One team = 1 child ages 7-15 + one adult age 16 and older. These adults can be parents, grandparents, siblings, babysitters, coaches, etc! Prizes are awarded to the top girl, boy, and adult in each age group.
The swim portion of the race is hosted by the West Cook YMCA in their 25yd pool. The bike portion is on a controlled access course on the streets surrounding the Pleasant District (Randolph, Maple, South Blvd., and Home). The run portion is on Marion St. The transition area is hosted by the West Cook YMCA in their parking lot.
