- Description: Open Water Planet kicks off the open water swimming season in New Braunfels TX in 2017 for the First Annual Open Water Planet Triton River ONE. This event takes place on the Comal River and is the first race in Open Water Planet's newest Triton Series.
The Triton Series designed to challenge athletes to conquer a variety of open water situations and focuses on the idea that with the right knowledge and training, you can find your way through any situation.
This river swim is a unique opportunity to race down the crystal blue waters of the Comal, and have a few adventures along the way. Obstacles include the legendary Tube Chute, Weir Falls and the Warnecke Rapids. At each obstacles swimmers will have the option to grab a lifejacket or a tube and splash their way through. Truly an event unlike any other, this swim caters to both those new to open water and the expert looking for thrill of racing with a current and having a little fun along the way. This just over 1 mile race will take place going down the Comal River. Starting at Hinman Island and ending at the Rocking R Ranch exit . The official map will be released soon. A 10 minute warm up is allowed before the race begins. This will be an in water start and in water finish with the start gun going off at 8:00am sharp. Average water temperature in the river ranges between 71 and 73 degrees year around.
