It's been a big year at BeginnerTriathlete.com, so let's celebrate our accomplishments!
We've overseen the implementation of a new logo for the site, apps and social media, bringing our brand into alignment with our vision for the future ... a highly functional training platform that works with our outstanding triathlon training plans, while preserving the focus on the individual triathlete and encouraging supportive conversations with members. Our new logo, with its triumphant every-person triathlete crossing the finish line, does just that.
To match the logo, we made a few small tweaks to modernize the design of the website, including a more contemporary font, a slightly larger font size for easier interaction, the elimination of dotted lines for borders, and an overall cleaner look.
In 2017, we had to invest in an update to the mobile app to comply with Apple's new requirements. This year we added the new logo as the app icon and made a few improvements to the interface.
We've made our training plans more flexible by allowing users to add two days per week of strength training to any plan, giving our carefully developed strength regimen and core training as a free add-on to any plan.
We've added valuable contributors to our articles section, bringing additional trusted content to our members. These articles are often how new users find our site, because of our trusted status with search engines.
We launched our first podcast (Triathlon for Everyone) this year, and have plans to add more as we move forward.
We moved all pages to HTTPS so they are protected by an SSL certificate (instead of just our checkout and payment pages), and we improved the profile and notifications area in the top header and added our social media links. Not everyone liked the new message notifications, so we worked with you to create a system that displayed inspires prominently without clicking or hovering.
We've also partnered with USA Triathlon to promote each other's content and programming. Together we want to see more first-time triathletes, and we want their first experience to be great! We also partnered with TriFuel in what we envision to be a great value to our members as that brand experiences a rebirth.
Welcoming Scott Kubinski as a forum moderator and spam deleter has been critical, as spam bots grow more and more powerful and persistent, defeating ever-more-complex attempts to keep them out.
We've maintained and improved our ability to sync with a wide variety of devices and online training analytics by strengthening our partnership with Tapiriik. Users can now reliable sync their Training Peaks, Strava, Garmin, RunKeeper and other accounts with BeginnerTriathlete, so their training log here is up-to-date without any additional effort.
Most importantly, big thanks go to our members for tirelessly reporting bugs, welcoming new members, and nudging me when I forget to do things around here. We are all human, and together as a team we create an amazing, welcoming environment for triathletes!
