It does for my swimming what my Garmin GPS watch did for my running. It gives me the data I need to keep improving and makes my workout a little more fun.
Definitly worth the $79.

I needed a swim watch, so I figured I'd splurge for this over a general stop-watch. I have absolutely no regrets and has exceeded my expectations.

I've got 3 swims with it to date and am fairly confident I've figured this thing out. I plan to add detail to this review with my initial impression and then update it again in a month or so.
