I had seen these shoes at a previous race and chuckled but the woman wearing them swore by them. A recent diagnosis of hallux limitus had me hunting for a rigid soled shoe to limit big toe movement. While at my LRS, I noticed these and the guy said a lot of runners like these shoes. I picked one up and noticed I could not flex the sole of the shoe. Perfect! Better yet, the sole is cambered to create forward motion so it doesn't stress the achilles as much and is conducive for midfoot strikers.
My 10.5 men's shoes weigh 11.25 oz, a lot less than most trainers out there. They are pillowy soft to run in, almost springy, but yet very supportive for my mild overpronation (I do wear orthotics).
I hope they shave a few ounces in a "racer" edition soon. But at 11 oz., I'll race in these anyday. Most important, I have little to zero pain in my big toe when I run.
