"Awesome trail running shoe if you don't need a lot of cushion, or an awesome off-road racing shoe if you like a substantial racing shoe.

Shoes go on just fine! ;)

Must buy these 1/2 size larger than you wear in other brands (true of all Adidas I think).

If you get the right size they are wonderfully comfortable. Buy 1/2 size up.

I see these from various sources for $70. For an Adizero shoe that's a decent value.

I think they look great!

I feel like a mtn goat on the trails with these.

The adizero line is a performance line of shoes. The XT are specifically designed for off-road use.
What I find most remarkable about these shoes are the way they grip the trail and their incredible stability. I run on rooted technical single track quite a bit. I used to turn my ankle about once per mile on this terrain in my usual trainers. With these shoes, I've only twisted my ankle once over 100 miles.

This is only a qualified weakness, you may consider it a strength. They are right in between a racing shoe and training shoe in terms of weight and cushion.
So depending on your perspective that either makes them good for both, or not quite right for either.
