The idea of adjustable waistband is good but if you fold the waistband down is very tight and bulking on your hips

DeSoto usually hold up pretty well.
Strengths
Love DeSoto shorts - own a pair of 3 pocket Tri and 400 mile bike. Extremely comfortable. Love the float pad in the Forza Riviera shorts.
Weakness
These shorts have an extremely wide waist band that "supposedly" folds over easily to adjust the fit. Felt like I was riding in a pair of spanks! Tried to fold the waist band down and that just made extra bulk on my hips.
