"This would work fine as a HRM, but don't count on it's bike computer functionality."Artemis
Ease of use
Once you do the setup, it's pretty easy to use for either running or biking. There is no easy way to switch from biking to running. You basically have to end the biking activity and start a new running activity.
Quality of Construction
This has held up well to numerous falls off my bike and only has one small scratch to show for it.
Fit
It's pretty big and I have a small wrist, so it's hard to get it to fit well. It is definitely smaller than the Garmin 205/305, so that influenced my buying decision pretty heavily.
Comfort
It's reasonably comfortable except in the middle of the summer. Once I start sweating, I find that the watch slips or it's too tight.
Appearance
I like the look of the watch. I've worn it a few times as a watch and it just looks overly large. Not immediately recognizable as a HRM/bike computer.
Customer Service
Polar was very helpful. My first unit was not interfacing with the speed and cadence sensors, so they completely replaced everything. It was quick, too (about two weeks).
Performance
The HRM aspect of the watch works very well. I did not have any problems or interruption of signal while I was using it.
I am less impressed with the cycling functionality. The speed and cadence sensors are very finicky and take a lot of tweaking before each ride. I have tried to clip the watch onto my aerobars, but then the watch does not pick up the speed and cadence. I think it's because it is too far away as I have had the same problem while riding in aero for extended periods. I had a few times where it would just stop picking up mileage in the middle of a ride.
Strengths
HRM works well.
Smaller size than the 205/305 fits smaller wrists better.
Weakness
Bike computer function is lacking.
- 4 people use
- 48 workouts logged
- 1840.38 miles / 137.75 hours logged
Ease of installation
I had a hard time installing the speed and cadence sensors. Needed to take it back to the LBS twice to get it to work properly.
