"First off, this is the only model in the forerunner line that is not GPS enabled. However, this device is much more than just a HRM. With optional equipment, it can measure distance, steps, and more. It can even be hooked up to a bike for bike distances and cadence. It is a much cheaper alternative to the GPS enabled models, and if you will be working out in the gym all the time anyways, or will be using predictable routes this will give you everything you need."njones4213

Was difficult to get the initial sync set up, and it does not sync yet with my Mac so I have to use and old PC.
Optional accessories are very easy to pair, and the foot pod didn't need to be calibrated to display accurate distances.

I find the interface to be very intuitive and easy to train with.

Seems to be very well constructed.

I have very large wrists and it actually fits me fine with the standard band.

Very comfortable while exercising. I wouldn't really want to wear it all the time though.

The stock band is actually big enough to fit me comfortably, and adjusts much smaller. Also available are a foot pod to measure distance (works on a treadmill), a heart rate strap, and a speed/cadence sensor for bikes. Very customizable based on your own needs.

Only owned for one month.

Seems to be a great alternative to the GPS enabled garmin line. Especially for those of us not yet up to the kinds of distances that might need GPS.

Looks very nice, especially compared to previous GPS models from same manufacturer. Could easily be mistaken for just an average watch.

Did not purchase from Garmin directly.

After the initial setup, I have been extremely pleased with the performance.

Much cheaper alternative to the rest of the Garmin Forerunner series. Does not have GPS capabilities, but if you don't travel far enough, don't vary your route, or if you are always working inside where a signal isn't available then this is not a problem.

Additional accessories are available and are standard across the forerunner line making an eventual upgrade not a total money sink.

The garmin data can be directly loaded into the BT training log if you are a performance member.

Initial setup was not easy.
The garmin connect website is terrible. It's free, but just terrible. Your best bet is to become a BT performance member and use the website here.
