Swim
Comments: Swim was good (for me). I didn't really train much swimming before the event b/c my shoulder is not happy with swimming. I would say I did about a third on my back and the rest front crawl. I didn't kick much. I should start kicking more. What would you do differently?: Some bone head (me) forgot to wear under armour or lube up my arms. I hate the chafing. It hurts alot. I need to stop forgetting this. Transition 1
Comments: Felt about the same as the 1/2 Iron I'll approximate based on that Bike
Comments: Holy passing frenzy batman. I had a lot of fun passing tons and tons of people. If only I could swim or run... What would you do differently?: Some bone head forgot to close up the front brake quick release until aftee the first time needed to use it. That would be a good thing to remember next time. I should have pulled my behind the seat water bottle cage before the race. It definately slowed me down in T1 and I didn't use it other than to store empties Transition 2
Comments: Wild guess at time here. I know it was much better than SBR mostly because of the Speed Laces... Run
What would you do differently?: Um, blue grape gatorade is now offically off the list for races. I need to go back to Orange Gatorade (so hard to find :( ) I was burping this up and it brought up some stuff taht I shouldn't have. Felt lie booting alittle while running. Post race
Warm down: Shove as much Watermelon into my mouth as would fit. drink a few bottles of Gatorade, try not to slime my family... Catch up with Mary and Dennis. Never found natalie after I saw her warming up. huh. Event comments: Really would have appreciated champion chip timing... From what the Race Director said it sounds like Greenwich Charged him an arm and a leg to use the park so he probably couldn't spring for the timing. Very affluent race. Lots of people who looked like they had more money in their bikes than training on them... Not a bad thing but it was very apparent. Directions: I-95 exit 5. Right at the end of ramp and right at first light on South Beach Avenue to the end. Right turn on Shore Road to the beach. Drove down from home at 4:00. Got to the Site at 4:40. I was the first person to set up my bike in the Transition Area. It was a prerfectly over cast day.
Talked to the race directors and asked where my champion chip was... Then I discovered just how a local race this was. There were no champion chips. there would be no split tmes "unless you keep track yourself" which I tried to. Then I asked where I should be body marked, the race director replied with "we're not ready to do that right now" but when we are somewhere on your calf (front or back) and one on your bicep. When some body found the Markers; It was mak yourself. Sombody helped me out by getting my bicep; I then looked down at the 17 I drew on my Shin and realized that I had drawn the seven backwards... But then I'm not surprised with my inibility to tell right from left in general; is it really expected tha I can draw a seven upside down (from my persepective) on my shin at 5am?
Walked around in my flip flops. Got streached out by the physical therepy place that told me I probably didn't need surgery to fix my torn cartalage in my shoulder (before he asked what was wrong with it)... huh.
Probably should have warmed up with a run or ride.
