Swim
Comments: I think it goes without saying that my swimming was pretty bad this time around. 3 minutes slower than last time!! I'm not sure what happened. I guess it was just the murky water that had me a little spooked. And my arms felt so HEAVY. Not sure what the deal was. I practiced so much more in the open water before this race than the first one, I felt more prepared but performed much worse. Better luck next time I suppose!!! What would you do differently?: Just about everything.... lol Transition 1
Comments: Okay... rookie mistake. I got my bike tuned up the day before the race and I didn't check the gears to see where they were, so I struggled to get started because the bike was in a high gear. Lesson learned!!! Other than that... speedy transition. I didn't really run in the transition area (more like a fast walk) because there were small pebbles and god-knows-what-else in the paved area where our bikes were. Bike
Comments: Felt pretty good overall. Not really anything worth mentioning here. What would you do differently?: Go faster. LOL Transition 2
Comments: Felt pretty good about this transition. Knocked 9 seconds off of last time. LOL What would you do differently?: Grab my race belt and visor and put them on while running. Slip on my shoes and go!!!! Run
Comments: Maybe could have pushed myself a little more on the run, but was afraid of running out of gas at the end. Saving my energy helped, because I ended up passing a girl in my age group with the finish line in sight. :) What would you do differently?: Run faster. :) Post race
Warm down: Not really much of one. Was stopped immediately by the race staff for my timing chips. So you want me to bend over and let all the blood rush to my head after I just got done sprinting? I told the lady she was going to have to do it or I was going to pass out. LOL What limited your ability to perform faster: I think I need to lose about 5 pounds. All off my butt. That should give me a little less to carry around next time. :) Event comments: I liked the run course better than Crandon Park and I liked the fact that I didn't have to run a long way in the sand to get to T1. But I didn't like the murky water or the speed bumps on the bike course. We'll see what happens for Trilogy #3. Last updated: 2009-05-26 12:00 AM

Stayed at the same hotel as last time in Coral Gables. Had a big lunch and small dinner and snack before bed. Didn't sleep at all (like usual) and woke up at 4am to prepare. Doused myself in bug spray to avoid what happened last time. When we arrived at the race site, they were still setting up and they wouldn't let me in the transition area until I got marked and put my chips on... but they were taking so long to get fully set up that they finally just let me in. No family/friends allowed in transition area this time. We got there wayyyy early, so I just kind of chilled out in the car and listened to music until it was time to get in line for the port-o-potties for one last bathroom break.... which were more disgusting than usual in my opinion. Then it was time to head to swim start and more waiting around... the worst part of the race for me because my nerves (not to mention my heart rate) are sky high before the race even starts!!!
