Swim
Comments: I got really confused on the swim. The race details that were explained before the heat were very confusing and there were so many different buoy's since there were a bunch of different swim distances. I thought we had to round three buoy's and come back to the original ramp where we started...instead we only had to round two and just swim to another dock farther down...so as I did this I thought that I had skipped a buoy, wadded in the water a bit confused and trying to decide whether I should go back, but than noticed everyone else just going to the dock so I followed them. The overall swim went pretty well, but I felt like I had to sight constantly...scared I would get too off course and that through off my rhythm...but there was were a couple points where I felt pretty strong and just wished I didn't have to look up all the time. The swim ended faster than I thought. I missed my wetsuit in the the last race and was glad to have it in this one! What would you do differently?: Learn how to sight better without loosing my rhythm. Transition 1
Comments: Suit came off good. What would you do differently?: Need to get a little faster in the T1 transition. I have to sit down to wipe the dirt off my feet with a towel. It will drive me nuts if there is some sharp rock in my bike shoe so I'm careful about it. Slows me down a little. Bike
Comments: For some reason the bike course was shorter than 12 miles. I got 11.5 on my bike computer. I pushed really hard on the bike and the more people I past the more motivated I got to push harder. I only got passed a couple times...mostly by men on spiffy tri bikes. I could just feel the power in my legs transfer to my bike and it was an awesome feeling. I have no idea why the bike has suddenly turned into my best event...but I love it. My average speed was like 21.2 MPH which is my overall best ever. It was a little scary on the course having to look out for traffic and I think it may be a good idea to close this road next year considering there was an accident during the race with bikers. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I pushed my hardest. When I get my new bike hopefully be a few minutes faster! Transition 2
Comments: I managed to not sit down this time. Run
Comments: Only time I felt the altitude was on the run. Took a while to get my legs and my breathing under control. The run felt sooo damn long. I probably could have pushed a little harder towards the end and I was thankful to not get a cramp. Probably why I didn't push as hard because I was afraid I would get a cramp. Tons of people past me on the run...that sucked. What would you do differently?: Push harder at the end. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: My run. Event comments: I really like this event however it was only race I've ever been at where there were absolutely NO refreshments after the race. No gatorade, no fruit, nothing. The swag bag was real good tho. Need signs for race day packet pick up next year. Last updated: 2009-07-15 12:00 AM

Got up at exactly 3:07am. God damn that is early. I had to drive from Prescott to Flagstaff from my parents cabin. Ate toast with peanut butter and honey with a banana for the road.
Got to the event, but was really confused as where to get my packet. I had to pick it up on race day as there were no other opportunities for me to get there earlier. There were no signs or anything on where to pick it up...ended up asking about four people who kept pointing back there, but was still really hard to find. SIGNS NEXT TIME EVENT PEOPLE. Felt a little rushed setting up transition and have never had to find a spot for my bike because usually I get there really early, but can't exactly do that when I'm leaving from Prescott (unless I want to sacrifice more sleep = no thanks).
