![]() Swim
Comments: It wasn't as bad as I thought having 6 people in the lane. I just need to work on my stroke a bit more and get some more speed up. I was 8th out of the pool so I wasn't going too bad. My right shoulder was a bit sore at the start of the swim, but after about 6 lengths it was grand. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: I tied my shoes before I got onto the bike so I was ok. ![]() Bike
Comments: I need a proper water bottle. It was really difficult to take the lid off the bottle while cycling safely. Also my front left gear shifter is wrecked so I can't move my front derailleur to the front cog. Also my cleat clicked back into the pedal just before I jumped to start running and I nearly mullered myself into the barrier. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: I need proper cycling shoes. ![]() Run
Comments: I really need to get more practice in for my running. I just don't have any power or speed. I think if I had have pushed myself I could have done one more lap, but I was really struggling. After passing so many people on the cycle, I'm really annoyed that I let the run part down. What would you do differently?: Take an energy gel thing that I tried from that shop in Ballyclare. ![]() Post race
Warm down: I did a couple of stretches. I think I really need to work on my warm up/down for these events. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough training. I really need a proper training schedule and to follow it. I think if I put even a little practice in with the cycling I could make really big improvements. As for the running, I just have to keep doing it and get better that way. Losing some weight would be a good idea as well! Event comments: This was my first race so I don't know how it's supposed to work. It was organised ok, but there were no signs up for changing or anything, and at the start in the transition area everyone was just walking around asking eachother what was supposed to be happening. I think my swim was about 10 minutes late because the race briefing was delayed. There were no activities after the race. I asked one of the officials at the finish line what would happen with the times and positions and she couldn't tell me. She tried phoning some other bloke but couldn't get through. In the end she just said they would be on the internet that night. Last updated: 2009-07-26 12:00 AM

This is my first Tri so I wasn't really sure what to do so I just milled about with everyone else and waited until 9am for my wave.
Did some light stretches and treaded on water for a minute or two.
