Swim
Comments: Good swim for my second open water. Never had problems after the first turn. What would you do differently?: I think I could've gone a little harder, but still learning how to pace myself. Transition 1
Comments: Long run from lake, i think I was more tired after the run that the swim. Bike
Comments: Great ride for me, i was conservative on the first half and in the turns due to the conditions. Picked up the pace on the way back in. What would you do differently?: push a little more Transition 2
Comments: Good transition for me, felt really good after the bike. Run
Comments: Good run, I had been running with no socks, but not with wet shoes. At about 2 miles feet started to bother me. After the race both arches were bleeding and hurt like heck. What would you do differently?: Run with socks and make sure that I have dry clothes and shoes/socks for after the race. Post race
Warm down: Ate some oranges and drank some water/powerade. Walked around with the wife and visited with friends. What limited your ability to perform faster: Learning to pace myself. This was my forth race in five weeks. I was diagnosed in April with strained ligaments in my knee and a bulging disc in my back. After basically no training April 26 to late July I am really just starting to feel good about my fitness. This was the first race I really tried to push myself. Event comments: I started training about 18 months ago with the plan to compete this year. I was really nervous about doing Cajunman but I am glad I did. I had a great time. Hopefully I can stay healthy and keep improving. Last updated: 2009-08-03 12:00 AM

Had the normal peanut butter sandwich and choclate milk breakfast. Loaded up the truck and made the trip to Lafayette with my wife. Mosquitos were really bad that morning, luckily my wife had brought some repellant. Got marked and my chip. Set up my transition area.
Short swim.
