Swim
Comments: I was in the 8th out of 9 waves. The water sure felt nice instead of standing there freezing. Almost everybody had a wetsuit. I did rent one, but didn't wear it. My crazy breaststroke style doesn't work well with it. What would you do differently?: Well, I've got to learn to freestyle swim. 886 out of 914. Not real good. I was pleased with what I did as that is my regular pace. Transition 1
Comments: Although my slow swim made it really easy to find my bike, I had a long run with the bike out of the transition area. What would you do differently?: I thought it went pretty good. Had some trouble getting my shirt on. Work on getting on the bike quicker. Bike
Comments: Nice course with some hills. I was actually above my usual pace so that was nice. I think only one or two people passed me on the bike. What would you do differently?: Go faster. Transition 2
Comments: Very nice to see the wife and kids at the transition. Gave me a pep. I stopped my bike to get off. I couldn't get my bike racked as the downside to being so slow is that most of the bikes are back on the racks. I rode in my running shoes so most of the time spent in transition is running toward the exit. What would you do differently?: Not much. Get off the bike better and run faster. Run
Comments: Running, my saving grace. Under 8 min/mile is my fastest yet. I have no sense of speed when I'm running. Plus so few people on the course. I just tried to pick them off one by one. No one passed me on the run. What would you do differently?: Not much. I've got to work on the drinking while running. I can't drink from a cup. I should just carry my own but that short of a distance I should have skipped the water all together. Post race
Warm down: Just trying to collect myself. Ate a bagel, banana and some water. Very glad again to see the wife and kids at the end. What limited your ability to perform faster: Other than the fact that this was my first tri ever and I'm not very good overall? The swim and the bike. I've got to get better on those. Event comments: This is a very well done race. Lots of volunteers and plenty of folks along the course. I had a great time and hope to do it again. Last updated: 2009-08-08 12:00 AM

Up at 5 a.m. PB toast and OJ. Got to the race around 5:45 a.m. 7:56 a.m. was my wave start. Pretty nervous because this was my first ever tri, but did see some folks I knew.
Nothing really. Just some water and a Vanilla Crisp Power Bar. (Yummy)
