  • Comments: Reeds lake has been my favorite race the last 2 years and this year was no different. The atmosphere and volunteers were terrific. I was able to shave about a minute and a half off of my time from last year but was still disappointed in my performance overall. There are a lot of fast people who show up for this race and it is very competitive. It is a good race for me to end on for the year and I will be back next Sept.

  • Comments: I am giving this race an average rating based on what I expect out of a triathlon. If I were new to triathlons, this would easily be a best rating. There are a ton of newbie's at this race. Few of my friends stopped doing this race because of that. It's not a bad thing it just creates some frustrations. Example would be my rack area. It was a train wreck. The guy next to me had his helmet on one side of the bike and running shoes on another. There was another guy that set up his transition under neath the rack, in a spot another bike should have gone. I have no issues with people learning triathlons, one just has to have a patient mentality when doing this race. 2011 was by far the worst experience, especially on the bike.

  • Comments: East Grand Rapids knows how to put on a race. The community is absolutely awesome and supportive. I will definitely do this again as well as lots of other races around Reeds Lake.

  • Comments: My best race so far! :) Seriously I was very impressed with everything. It was very organized. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Volunteers were EVERYWHERE. The course was marked really well too. I will definitely be back!

  • Comments: This is an excellent race and they do a great job. The field is very strong, the course is excellent and the volunteers are plentiful. I got a nice AG trophy for 5th place. I prefer to race the Olympic distance so not sure when I would do this one again. I did not need a nap after so I knew the distances were not long enough for me :). Still enjoyed myself.

  • Comments: I was extremely pleased with my overall performance today and was excited to be racing with my wife and sister. Reed's Lake has been my favorite triathlon both last year and this year. The atmosphere and excitement is great and the crowd support and volunteers are also terrific. The weather was perfect and I really enjoyed myself. I can't wait to come back next year!

  • Comments: I wasn't really into the race this year. Usually I am nervous and excited but I think the sudden transition to fall affected my motivation. I am glad I did it, it's a great race.

  • Comments: This was a great event. This year they improved pre-race communication, clearly laid out drafting rules, and generally took an already good race and made it better. The course is great and the large number of participants and spectators make for an exciting atmosphere.

  • Comments: This was my last triathlon this year and I was ready for this one to be over. I did 5 triathlons this summer and I had a lot of fun doing them all, but this one was a little late for me. The weather and distance made me dread this one for some dumb reason. I like this race and if it doesn't conflict with next years race schedule I'll do it again.

  • Comments: I enjoyed it very much. I was worried about how cold it was and the cold water given that I don't wear a wetsuit, but everything turned out ok. I'm pretty happy with my effort although I would have like to beat my time from last year.

  • Comments: Overall this was a good race which I'll do again next year. I did have a couple minor complaints. There was no pre-race communication via email or the website which left me wondering about race day details. They ran out of velcro straps for the chips so we ended up having to use disposable wrist bracelets. The aid stations had water but no Gatorade, Gu, etc. Despite those minor complaints it was a fun race at a great venue. The announcer was fun and interactive and the course was really great.

  • Comments: Third year doing this race... there seemed to be a lot more people this year but was still well organized and on time. My grandparents and some other family wanted to see me race so I felt a little pressure to have a good time... ending up being a personal best by 4 minutes - was very pleased with the race!
