Swim
Comments: Not a bad swim for me, slow and steady, one second slower than last year. Goggles leaked from the beginning, tried to adjust a couple times to no avail. What would you do differently?: Non-leaky goggls/ Transition 1
Comments: Coming out the water, notice that vision is blurry on right side, figured water in goggles washed a contact lense out of my eye. Stopped on the side to look in googles to see if it might still be there, no such luck. Going to be one-eyed the rest of the race. Rest of tranisition was uneventful, quarter-mile run to transition area, helmet and glasses on easy, bike mount was routine, into shoes with no problem, and off we go. What would you do differently?: Not lose contact. Even with the stop to search I was second in age group and faster than last year. Bike
Comments: With only one working eye it was difficult to find the potholes, hit a couple early which caused me to be more cautious the rest of the ride. Slight tailwind going out, averaged over 22 at the halfway point, not so much on the way in. Was passed by a couple young guys on the same tri club doing a two-man team time trial, caught back up to them to get their numbers and tell them what I thought of their cheating. Two and a half minutes slower than last year, which was on wet roads.Third in AG but only three seconds out of second. What would you do differently?: Have both eyes, train a lot more. Transition 2
Comments: Dismount was perfect, struggled a bit getting into running shoes. Grabbed hat and belt and headed for the exit. Third in age group, seven seconds slower than last year. What would you do differently?: Move faster, not struggle with shoes. Run
Comments: Like so many others, this is where the wheels fell off due to the heat. First mile went OK, then it thit me. From that point on the most I could run was 100-200 yards, then take a walk break. Ninth in age group, at least two passed me here.7:30 slower than last year. What would you do differently?: Better training? Better heat tolerance? Post race
Warm down: Didn't pass out, which was above expectations. walked around, drank about four bottles of powerade. What limited your ability to perform faster: Minimal training. It's been a long way back after six months off from running earlier this year, still not anywhere near where I should be. Also have not been able to put in the cycling volume I need to reach potential. Hopefully I can stay injury free through the upcoming running season and build and improve next triathlon season. Also need ot work onswim and bike throughout the winter, something I haven't been willing to do in the past. Event comments: To be fair, I left as soon as transition re-opened, so can't speak to all of the post-race events. Food was good and there was plenty to drink. Always a good event, biggest local triathlon, glad to be a part of it. Last updated: 2010-09-13 12:00 AM

Got there fairly earlly (5:40?). surprised to find we had to pay $5 to park. Set-up got chip, and waited.
Walked back to the car to get stuff, walked around to kill time.
