Run
Comments: A very nice scenic run through mile 9 and the tunnel. Lots of people cheering and things to look at. Mile 9-11 was freeways and then the upcoming view of the city. GU gel at mile 8.5 and drank all water and cytomax along the way. What would you do differently?: Not much. This was my first ever race. I had never run more than 8 miles before and only 7 recently in training due to a 3 week virus near the end. I ran/jogged the whole race and felt good afterwards. I could've pushed myself to go faster but I had no frame of reference or pacing experience beyond 7 miles. It was fun and a great experience. Post race
Warm down: Ate one banana, .5 orange, one bagel, one bag of pretzels, two bottles of water, two bottles of cytomax and walked around for about a half hour. I felt very good and wasn't very sore the next day. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training and inexperience Event comments: A great experience for a first time runner! Pleasant atmosphere, good people, nice course, well executed planning and good bands. I would recommend this race to first timers or experienced racers. Next year I will be back for the marathon. Ate pizza Friday night after a nap. Put tiger balm on my legs and slept 4 hrs. Up at 2:30 drank a muscle milk, and white espresso and headed to Seattle. 2 hr drive later I ate a peanut butter cookie Larabar. After busing got to the start at 5:50 AM. No lines at the restrooms. Found corral 18, the gear trucks and stretched out. 6:10 went to use the restrooms one last time. At 7:01 I finally got to use the restroom and jogged to my corral.
Stretching and a short jog to the corral.
