Swim
Comments: I went out to strong and about 200 meter in I got kicked in the stomach ( it wasn't anything malaises, just an accident) I got knock back and fourth a few time and started to loss my nervous but I couldn't give up. "I must finish. It is only going to get easier after the swim." Is what I keep telling myself. Once my feet could touch the lake floor I felt better so I sprinted up the shore and headed for my bike. What would you do differently?: On the back stretch of the course I had to do the breast stroke because I was breathing too hard. I want to greatly improve my swimming upon my next tri. Transition 1
Comments: I sprayed myself with Pam before the race to help get my suit off faster. (that was my saving grace) Bike
Comments: The course was fast I spent the whole bike segment passing people. And after the horrible swimming segment I needed a confidence booster. The bike portion really allowed me to fall into the pass that I wanted to in the race. I pushed myself but didn't lose control which was good. Transition 2
Comments: This transition went much smoother. I got my biking shoes off and my running shoes on in no time. Once I took my first step on my legs I realized just how tired I was and reality of the race set in. I had 3.1 miles to good and I was nearly spent. What would you do differently?: I didn't leave my shoes on the pedel when I finish my biking segment. I need to practice biking with my feet on top of my shoes. Run
Comments: I started to lose it at the 3 mile marks, but I held on and pushed myself to beat someone in my age group just before the finish. As I crossed the finish line throw up in the process scared a young girl how was volunteering. (I love it) This was the most exciting race that I have ever done. I can’t wait until the next one. What would you do differently?: I did just about all I could do in the running portion. I had teh 9th best time overall and I moved from 102nd place to 45th place within 3.1 miles. Post race
Event comments: This was the first Tri I have ever done so I can't compare it. Although I can say that I will do it again, and I feel that I made I wise choose but making this my first tri. Everyone from the volunteers to the athletes were nothing but supportive. Last updated: 2006-05-03 12:00 AM
