  • Comments: Very friendly volunteers. Having 2 loops for the bike course was not ideal, but best the race directors could do with permitting issues. Felt proud of my effort!

  • Comments: In some ways this is hard to compare times with Duathlons as I can tell it feels different coming off a swim than a first run - made both the bike and run feel different - not easier per se, just different. No looking back - will keep on doing Tri's from now on!

  • Comments: Started late due to traffic jam at entrance to park. Luckily it wasn't too cold, because they announced the delay after I was in my wetsuit. I did put off getting in the water though.

  • Comments: Good first experience! Wish the run course had been a little more logical, but then again, it kept me guessing! Everything was well-marked, so it made it easy to figure out what I was doing as a newbie.

  • Comments: A fun, fast course. The horrid rain that Oregon has had the past few weeks/months made parking very challenging and led to the somewhat late start.

  • Comments: This race was very well run. They did have a late start, but it was due to a change in parking. They were not running too late and everything was well organized! Everybody was very nice and helpful. I would go again next year!

  • Comments: Overall, and for my 2nd TRI this was a great effort. I've lost just shy of 30 pounds since starting this adventure, and compared to a lot of folks in the race i'm still carrying an asian gymnast extra on my body. So I can't complain about my performance too much... THE GOODS: I have never ridden so fast EVER! Wooohooo, the bike seriously rocked! I swam light years better than I did the last OWS, and there's room for more improvement here which will come with more speed work. I went all out the entire race and gave it all I could. I finished another tri! Wooot! THE BADS: I can't help being a little disappointed in my running. To be fair to myself - I have never run in my life, and couldn't even run a minute last September when I started training - and in that time have gone from 16+ minute miles to running 3 miles consistently at just under 13 min/mi. I know I will get better the more I run, but to lose 240 places because of it SUCKS! My competitive side is chaffing

  • Comments: It was my first race, but I was told it's very well organized and the transitions are better than average. I wouldn't argue. Things went off smoothly. I had a great time.

  • Comments: It was my first triathlon in open water. It was hard, but fun. So far, I always seem to wonder why I am doing this, but ultimately I'm glad I did it once it is over.

  • Comments: Swim seemed longer than 800m; run seemed longer than 3.1; I saw several people drafting. Swim maves made no sense--tri a tri people should have gone last. Lots of them were in my way the last 400m and that slowed me down. The transitions were rediculously long runs to get to your spot. Shorten bike running or warn people about how long you'll be running in your bike shoes.

  • Comments: This was my first medal ever! When I found out that I had placed, not a single thing could knock me off Cloud 9. I'm still there, actually. :-) Last year I did this same event as my very first triathlon. I finished happy, but hurting. One solid year of training later and I knocked 12 minutes off my time. In a sprint distance! This was an awesome confidence booster and reinforced that I've chosen the right fitness path for myself. Even better, my sweetie-pie was there to watch it all take place, and he couldn't have been prouder. The course itself is flat and not very difficult, but it is a great first-time event and/or season opener. I think I'll be doing this each year so I can gauge my progress.

  • Comments: I have no complaints about the day. Lots of volunteers and everything was clearly marked so I never had to question where I was supposed to go. The RD was great, too. When I picked up my packet, the medium shirt I ordered was WAY to big and she personally took down my info so that she could send me a small when they came in. She then said, "If you get it and we need to exchange it for an extra small, let me know and we'll make it right." Now THAT makes my $75 race fee worth it. Oh, and they had nice bling. :)
